Very easy to install.

I live in a not so great apartment complex. I have lots of nice toys that would be very easy to hock at a pawn shop. I got worried everytime I left my apt that I'd come back to find the flimsy door kicked in and my goodies gone. I was able to install this in minutes. Two screws for the main unit and one screen for the motion sensor (mounted right above my door but out of reach to the average person. Now I can leave my place without worry.
Pro: Very easy to install, keychain remote means no running to the keypad.
Con: I found the working range of the remote to be about 30ft (through several walls though). Its loud but without an external siren I'm counting on my immediate next door neighbors to respond to the alarm before they disable it. Some of the setup menus are a little clumsy, but you only have to do it once.
I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. |
Great system!

What's great about this is that it will call your cell phone and up to 4 others if someone breaks in. Plus it is easy to set up and has a loud alarm. The price is amazing! Even on the Mace website they are $150 as of Jan. 2010. My cat doesn't even trigger the motion sensor though I do. I can now feel I'm protected. If you want to spend more, I would consider another system where if they cut your phone line it goes off but I am happy with this.

It seems to work well so far--just purchased & installed this week.

| I decided to try this unit out since it was a middle of the road choice that was wireless and relatively easy to install but still has quite a few advanced features and customization possibilities(I was particularly looking for one that had the ability to expand or purchase additional sensors or remotes). There has been a high number of daytime break-ins within my fairly safe apartment complex here lately. My budget and need for just basic protection is my main reason for deciding to go with this option... versus a professionally monitord(i.e. more expensive) one! We'll see how things go and hope to never have it triggered by an unlawful entry. |

| I like to consider myself fairly technical - This product was a really tough thing to install. I had all kinds of problems from missing parts to just bad directions. I ended up shoving it all back into the box and calling ADT to come out and set up their alarm system. As a business owner, it was not worth my time to sit at the office and try to figure this out. If you are going to purchase this- I would suggest finding someone familiar with alarm systems to help you with it's set up and installation. I think that was, in the end, my short coming. |
