:) asked:

This is the deal: family member went to the hospital with a blow out finger (broken bone and everything) they rapped it up and send him home saying that was no surgeon on call to came back tomorrow (Baptist hospital said that he could loose his finger tip…. due to the gravity of the injury) came back next day and went to the surgeon office (Baptist told him) since he has no insurance the surgeon WILL NOT make surgery without $4000 down at least… Is it legal to put someone’s finger in jeopardy because of money??? Now he has to hurry to find the money or the skin on his finger will die and loose it for sure… WHY IS THE MEDICAL FIELD SO SUC%^&%k up???? They are supposed to help people out…. they only care about money!!!! Then here we go spending thousand of millions of dollars in some other country medical and security and here at home WE ARE LOOSING FINGERS!!!!!
what would you say if is YOUR FINGER??? fair?
This is no false… You never heard of someone’s smashing its finger????? came on! if you guys are not going to answer , just don’t!

It’s legal. Loosing a finger is not a life threatening emergency.

Losing the tip of a finger is no big deal – take responsibility and make sure you have health insurance.

The medical field is a business. People forget that. Not having a surgeon available, means they don’t have one available. In our area it’s becoming very hard for hospitals to have all specialties covered. Doctors are becoming scarce. Too many law suits.

It is legal for them to say you have to pay up front, I don’t have insurance and it’s common.

Wow, how horrible. I mean, I’m sure the surgeons were wasting their time on trivial matters such as heart attacks, spinal cord injuries, head trauma, etc.

Just think, how will your family member pick his nose.

Seriously, this sounds a bit contrived. Exactly how did he hurt his finger? Also, were there no clinics available for treatment?

Welcome to health care in America, it’s not uncommon. Many hospitals are severely understaffed (especially nurses). A lot of doctors are getting away from patient care because insurance costs have gotten so outrageous that they can’t afford it.
